Terms of Service

1. The service

VelvetBots (“we”, “the service”) runs software that keeps Second Life avatars (“bots”) online and performing automated actions for the customer who owns them. Features and prices may change; the plan and price shown when you pay is what applies for that period.

2. Linden Lab and Second Life risk

Second Life is operated by Linden Lab, which is independent of us. Linden Lab may warn, restrict, suspend or ban any account, at any time, with or without explanation. We do not control this, cannot predict it, and are not responsible for any action Linden Lab takes against your account, including accounts that use our service. You use the service at your own risk and should not host an avatar you cannot afford to lose. Automated agents (bots) must follow the Second Life Terms of Service and Linden Lab’s scripted-agent policy; you are responsible for that compliance.

3. Your accounts and credentials

  • You may host only avatars that you own and control. No hosting on behalf of others without their permission.
  • To run your bot we must store its login credentials. They are stored encrypted, used only to log your bot in, and deleted after you cancel (see the Privacy Policy).
  • Use a dedicated alt with its own password. Never give us credentials for your main avatar or any password you use elsewhere.

4. Payments and refunds

  • Payment is in Linden dollars (L$), by topping up a prepaid balance in-world. Weekly plan fees and any per-reply AI charges are deducted from that balance.
  • Prepaid balance and fees already charged are non-refundable, except where required by law or where we decide otherwise at our discretion, for example after a fault on our side.
  • If your balance cannot cover a renewal, your bot enters a short grace period and is then stopped. Your data is kept for a limited time and then deleted.
  • L$ have no cash value and are governed by Linden Lab’s terms.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use the service to:

  • break the Second Life Terms of Service, Community Standards, or Linden Lab policies;
  • harass, spam, or scam other residents, or take money or items under false pretences;
  • generate or roleplay sexual or abusive content involving minors or age-play. This is an absolute prohibition;
  • impersonate real people or organisations;
  • disrupt other residents, regions or our infrastructure.

AI conversation is filtered by house rules that you cannot override. It will disclose that it is an AI when sincerely asked.

6. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or remove a bot or account, without refund, if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms, puts the service or other users at risk, or if a law or a third party requires it. You may cancel any time; your bot will stop at the end of the paid period.

7. No warranty; limited liability

The service is provided “as is”. We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee uptime, that your bot will never be logged out, or that any result will be achieved. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of an avatar, inventory, L$, reputation or income, or for anything caused by Linden Lab, Second Life outages, or your own configuration. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in the 30 days before the claim.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use after a change means you accept it. Material changes will be announced in-world or on this page.
